Summary of the job roleJob Specification POSITION: Technical Service Chemist LOCATION: Bedford HOURS: Monday - Friday SALARY: £25,000p/a REF: VR/00684 Our client has rapidly become the largest dedicated fuel treatment company in the world. The sole focus of their Fuel Specialties business is to develop and market additives for different types of fuel, from petroleum-based fuels to coal and biofuels. Their specialist understanding can improve fuel efficiency, boost engine performance and reduce harmful emissions across a range of industries. Graduate opportunity available as full training given. One of our key strengths is in developing and maintaining close relationships with our customers and as part of this the Customer Technical Service (CTS) team provides laboratory testing and support in the field to the Fuel Specialties sales teams across EMEA. Role: Providing technical support related to the application of performance fuel additives Executing technical service projects and providing data to support the business in a timely fashion under direction and priority Responsible for maintenance and calibration of test equipment Undertaking testing according to standard industry methods, to support fuel additive application. Communicate and report technical information to the technical and sales team, Fuel Specialties, as well as external customers in a clear and concise manner. This could be verbal or written, e.g. via reports or presentations Assist in training of staff/customers in test techniques and additive applications and present technical data as required Undertake customer visits to support and conduct trials as required Conducting tests and collating technical response as required in support of customer tenders Maintaining laboratory areas safe and tidy according to local standards and carry out CoSHH and risk assessments as appropriate. Role Requirements: What is the expected level of knowledge (education, business/technical expertise, practical experiences, etc) required for this role? (NB: Not those of the current jobholder) Qualified to Degree level in chemistry or other relevant scientific discipline. A good understanding of modern computer software and good numeracy skills. Should have good writing skills and demonstrate an ability to develop good communication skills, oral and presentational Good interpersonal skills Commercial business interest Demonstrates an understanding and commitment to company values and core competencies Must have own transport due to location.
