Ark Teacher Training is part of Ark, an international education charity which aims to give every young person a great education and real choices in life.
Ark Teacher Training exists to ensure all children, regardless of their background, have access to a high-quality education. We do this by recruiting bright, motivated graduates and training them to become great teachers in a school in our network.
Ark Teacher Training is a two-year school based training programme. As a School Direct programme, you'll be based in the classroom from day one, but you won't be thrown in at the deep end. You'll receive 500 hours of face-to-face training, focusing on both theory and practice.
You'll be based in one of over 40 schools in your choice of four regions in the UK; Birmingham, Hastings, London and Portsmouth. There are a whole host of teaching options for you, from primary to physics, from music to maths.
In January 2017, our programme was rated as 'outstanding' in all areas by Ofsted.

As a trainee with Ark, you'll have access to:
Two-week summer school to introduce you to the programme and the principles of great teaching
Weekly training sessions with your fellow trainees focusing on a key part of your teaching such as behaviour management or curriculum
An in-school coach who you will work with you every week to plan lessons, observe your teaching and offer immediate tailored feedback
Support from a network of education experts, a dedicated tutor and fellow trainees in your school and across the programme
In your second year, you'll follow our supportive NQT programme to continue developing your skills and making a difference to some of the young people who need it most. By the end of the programme, you'll have successfully passed your NQT year and may well be considering some of our opportunities for career progression, such as our Lead Practitioners programme.
Train on the job – you’ll be based in a school from day one, having an impact straightaway - 500 hours of training - Choose your location – you’ll be based in the location of your choice. We work side-by-side with teaching staff, supporting them with training and development so that they can deliver excellent teaching. To make sure that no pupil is left behind, we've developed data management tools which help teachers to monitor progress - this shows when pupils, or indeed teaching staff, need extra support.
