Home to everyone from the working class to the millionaires, Cheshire's one million residents encompasses every kind of person. The capital of Cheshire is the ancient and sublime city of Chester, however there are several other options for places to live in the county; the largest is Warrington, but Crewe and Ellesmere Port are also popular choices which have their own benefits and are more affordable.

        Transport links & getting around

Crewe is often hailed as the gateway of the north, providing the changing point from the south to many northern cities. Crewe to London Easton takes just over half an hour depending on the route and there are several trains an hour. The fastest train from Crewe to Manchester takes just 35 minutes. Travelling by train within the county is also quite reliable; Chester to Crewe takes just twenty minutes and Warrington to Crewe takes the same amount of time. Travelling by car within the country is also quite easy, with the M6, M62, M53 and M56 all running through the county.

        Cost of living here

Accommodation in Cheshire ranges from cheap student flats to extravagant mansions belonging to footballers and the rest of the north's millionaires. In the city of Chester a one bedroom place will set you back and average of £745 per calendar month, increasing to £923 pcm for a two bedroom place. However, there are cheaper options in the county, for example a two bedroom place costs an average of £603 pcm in Warrington, which has easy routes to Chester. Alternatively, in Ellesmere Port a two bedroom place costs an average of just £546 pcm.

        Nightlife

The two biggest spots for nights out in Cheshire are Chester and Warrington, with Warrington being the cheaper option.

Early on in your night out in Chester there are plenty of nice pubs to choose from. After that, you can make your way to Kuckoo, Havana, or Revolution for more of a cocktails vibe. The Church is one of Chester's most famous clubs, however the price of the novelty is that it gets very busy. Other less hectic clubs are Rosies and Cruise.

In Warrington most nights start out in the cultural quarter, then head to Institution for some cheap drinks. For late nights you'll want to head towards Showbar or Friars court, both of which close around 3am.

        Notable Attractions

Cheshire is mostly rural meaning country walks around castles, halls and forests are available at every corner. If you're a lover of beautiful architecture, Cheshire has many tudor and medieval structures, including Little Moreton Hall, Chester Cathedral and Eaton Hall. If that's not historic enough, there have even been Prehistoric burial grounds found near Congleton. Perhaps Cheshire's most notable attraction is Chester Zoo, where you can spend your day monkeying around with lions.
