Helping you find a career in West Midlands

Much of the industrial revolution began in the West Midlands, specifically in Birmingham, and the cities within the region are lively and modern whilst still acknowledging their rich histories. The region is a perfect mixture between town and country as it also has five areas of outstanding natural beauty. Whether you crave the buzz of a city or quaint peace of the countryside, there will definitely be a place suited for you within the West Midlands.

Cost of living
The average house price in the West Midlands is £180,000, which places it below the UK average of £242,286. According to BirminghamLive, the average everyday costs in the West Midlands totals to around £603 per week, which includes food, transport, bills and additional extras. This makes it the second-lowest in the country. Whilst the average wage is lower than you’ll get in London, it is significantly higher than what you will get in the North, making the West Midlands a very cost-effective region to live in.
Renting Prices
The average rental price in the West Midlands is £679 pcm and you will find the prices may be higher within the cities. In the smaller, suburban towns you will be able to find properties to rent for less than this.
Nightlife
Birmingham is the biggest city in the West Midlands. It has a population of 1.1 million and has several large universities. The nightlife in Birmingham is famous in the UK, although some of the other larger towns will also have a number of things to do and pubs to visit.
Notable Attractions
Winterbourne House and Gardens – This magnificent house and grounds is owned by University of Birmingham, but open to the public as heritage sites.

Birmingham Botanical Gardens, Edgbaston - The Botanical Gardens in Edgbaston is a protected area of outstanding natural beauty. There is a variety of wildlife and plants that are maintained to an impeccable standard.

The Molvern Hills – The Molvern Hills span 3000 acres and are the backdrop for a variety of activities including horse riding and even hand gliding. It’s a protected area of outstanding natural beauty filled with wildlife, geology and walking/cycle routes.

Clent Hills – This natural area is popular for day trips from nearby midland towns. The rolling hills and serene countryside make for a peaceful day out and the conservation charity protects the environment and wildlife in the area.

Cadbury World – There are only two of these in the whole world. The self-guided exhibition tours let you into some of Cadbury’s secrets. For a really sweet day out, there are also chocolate workshops available.

Bull Ring, Birmingham – A shopping centre in the centre of Birmingham that also has a food court with a selection of indoor dining areas. It’s one of the most popular shopping centres in the UK.

Coventry Cathedral – Coventry Cathedral is a holy place of pilgrimage and healing and a focal point of the city, partly because of its stunning architecture but also due to the value that its brings to the city and nation through education and art.

Dudley Zoo - Dudley Zoo is set around the ruins of an 11th century castle and includes some of the rarest creatures in the world. It is home to more than 1,300 animals and almost 200 species.

National Sea Life Centre – Mesmerising exhibitions of tropical wildlife make this a wonderful experience. The Centre also helps to rescue sick animals from the wild and take part in conversation projects.

Birmingham Back to Backs – National trust property that shines a light on working class history through an immersive experience.
