Scottish Power

Our company in a nutshell

As a major UK power firm, we work hard to bring our customers competitive gas and electricity rates. Energy, and how we produce it, is an ever-challenging topic, and to meet and exceed expectations we are looking for ambitious people to take us to new levels.

Who we are

With origins stretching back to 1901, ScottishPower Ltd is now a vertically integrated energy company (part of Spanish energy firm Iberdrola) with its headquarters in Glasgow, Scotland. We are amongst the top six power companies in the UK, providing energy to over 5 million households and businesses. We have over 10,000 employees at multiple sites across the country.

Careers with us

Here at ScottishPower, we are focused on playing our part - creating a cleaner, more affordable and more secure energy supply for the UK. So, knowing that our people are our strongest asset, we're always looking for individuals to join the ScottishPower careers programmes whose energy, intelligence and passion can help us reach our goals.

At the heart of all business visions and activities are the people whose individual efforts and performance make it happen. We encourage our people to be proud of where they work, to share their ideas and to own their careers at ScottishPower. We promote a safe working environment and push people to shape and progress their careers so that we grow our talent within the company.

We can offer a wide range of careers for people with different skills, expertise and ambitions, including apprenticeships, graduate programmes and engineering foundation programmes. This diversity keeps ScottishPower exciting and offers our employees opportunities to move within the company.

Graduate programmes

Our graduate programme lasts for two years. The schemes involve on-the-job training and a number of different placements. This gives you exposure to a wide network of colleagues and fellow graduates within ScottishPower. You will be involved in development modules which are a combination of residential and non-residential courses. These aim to develop your skills so you can effectively lead, manage and work with others, become a self-directed learner, and understand how ScottishPower functions as an organisation.
