Property is absolutely everywhere and a key industry in our society. We live, work, go to school in all different kinds of properties. Many of us work to save up so we can own one at some point in our lives.
The different roles within property require a range of skills, so the chances are you'll be able to find something that you're good at - whether you're selling properties, designing them, marketing them or even building them.
Typical roles within property include:
- Working within planning and land development
- Property inspector
- Property or land development
- Property or land valuation
- Selling, investing or renting property and land
- Architect
Property is divided into three types: residential, commercial and rural. You could specialise in one particular area or work across all three if you wish.
The progression routes will be different depending on which role you are in, but typically will involve on-the-job training and then exams and study within your company. Working your way up can take quite a few years of experience, so you will need to be patient to rise through the ranks. When you do, though, the work tends to be quite well paid and can offer opportunities for international travel.
